Dress Code
Standards of Student Attire

The Standard of Student Attire has been established to help students dress appropriate for an educational institution and to sustain a positive environment for learning. Students dressed inappropriately and in violation of the standards of student attire will be detained until appropriate attire is brought from home, the student changes into clothing provided by the deans office, or the student is sent home and must return to school with a parent for a conference. Parents will be notified when their student is dressed inappropriately.
The following articles of clothing are not allowed at University High School:
  1. Tube tops, Halter Tops and/or strapless tops (female students)
  2. Tank tops (male) and wife-beaters (females)
  3. Tops that show any part of a student stomach and excessive bare skin anywhere.
  4. Gang related attire including colors and symbols
  5. Non-Uni headgear, including baseball-style caps, wave caps, or beanies, scarves (females), except for religious reasons
  6. Extremely short shorts or skirts
  7. Visible underwear (thongs and bra straps)
  8. Excessively baggy or sagging pants
  9. Pajama tops and bottoms
  10. Shoes are required at all times. House slippers, beach walkers, or bare feet are not acceptable
  11. Message clothing, which is obscene or vulgar, sexually suggestive, inflammatory in nature or gang, drug, or alcohol related is prohibited
